Not a happy Easter for the Bulls.

I think every bulls supporter knew that this Easter period was going to be tough, probably tougher than any other one we have ever known before, going into Thursdays game the bulls were privileged to introduce a true former legend of the bulls no other than Lesley vainikolo. At this moment how we would love to have someone similar with the power and pace that "the volcano" brought. He was introduced to the crowd before the game to probably the biggest cheer of the night, it certainly brought a reminder of what the bulls once were. With positive developments happening behind the scenes at odsal with a new club shop and ticket office now completed momentum is building but it's the on the field issues that will determine the fate of the bulls and after another performance below par against Leeds and a host of fresh injuries to an already depleted squad it's worrying times for the bulls and we are now in a territory we have never experienced as bradford supporters. 

Bradford Bulls 6 Leeds Rhinos 46 Thursday 17th april 2014

Bradford got off to a disastrous start and were blown away by the sheer power strength and quality of the Leeds attack, it took the rhinos no time to post there first points in only the 3rd minute with some neat handling saw hardaker held up over the the line, but moments later McGuire stabbed the ball forward on the last tackle to see sinfield take the ball greatfully and score with ease and easily adding the extras. It didn't take much longer for the rhinos to go in again with moon in the left corner on the 9th minute. 3 minutes later it got worse for the bulls as McGuire danced through the bulls lackluster defence to score all too easily. Leeds were relentless in attack and claimed there 4th try on the 15th minute when it was once again great handling that sent in hall in the left corner. Leeds in complete control and cruising with only 15 minutes played 20-0. At this point bradford had not completed a set as Leeds dominated possession and territory coach Francis cummins rung the changes and eventually established a foot hold in a game that was quickly running away, the bulls finally breached the rhinos defence with a superb individual effort from lee Gaskell showing great pace to run 80 metres and outstrip the rhinos defence, gale adding the extras, suddenly the bulls found some momentum with Luke gale away on a fine break driving at the heart of the rhinos defence but a long pass from Gaskell went astray and put paid to a promising move sadly that was about as good as it got for the bulls. 

With matty Blythe departing from the action at half time it prompted another re shuffle within the bulls camp the game began to get scrappy at times but it was Leeds with the attack and further scores from hall x2 sutcliffe Watkins and burrow put Leeds  in firm control and worthy victors over a bulls outfit lacking in confidence and direction. Bulls injuries are Blythe (knee) Donaldson (ankle) Sidlow (back) Gaskell (ankle) Leeds also lost there highly rated youngster Stevie ward to injury best wishes to all and a speedy recovery. 

Into other news now before moving onto the Easter Monday game at the DW stadium. Bulls owner Marc green has confirmed that he wants to buy back the lease for odsal from the RFL. There is also the news of a price comparison website called bullpower and is solely for bulls fans we can log onto this bullsenergy.com the club will be rewarded too and supporters get discount in the shop too or a voucher. FORWARD Danny Bridge has been recalled by parent club Warrington Wolves and returns to The Halliwell Jones Stadium with immediate effect.

The 21-year-old Ireland international has spent the past two months with Bradford Bulls, making eight appearances in First Utility Super League.

He today departs The Provident Stadium and has come in for considerable praise from Bulls head coach Francis Cummins.

“Danny has been very good for us and has served us well over the past eight weeks or so,” said Cummins.

“I would like to thank Warrington for allowing Danny to come here and do a job for us, while, at times, playing out of position.

“Obviously, losing him is a blow for us – but loan signings are never truly guaranteed.

“I believe Danny will have benefitted from the experience and game-time received here.

“On behalf of the Bulls, we wish him well for the future.”

Cummins' side return to action on Sunday, with Catalan Dragons visiting The Provident Stadium in round five of the Tetley's Challenge Cup (kick-off 3.00pm).

Tickets for the clash are priced at £15 (adults), £10 (concessions), £10 (students) and £5 (juniors) – but will rise by £5 on the day of the game.

So we move onto the Wigan game I'm not going to drag this on as we are aware the bulls fell to there heaviest defeat in there history they sailed into a straight 84-6 victory very disappointing indeed and was very much one way traffic and to add more to our woes Oliver Roberts has broken his leg dismal afternoon for any travelling bulls fan. Bulls were swatted away like flies if this had been a boxing match it would have been stopped at half time. Now is the time though for all of us to stand together and we have to shout louder than ever before and cheer even in defeat we must must BULLieve COME ON YOU BULLS.

Apologies regarding last weeks issue as I was unable to get it up and running in time and by the time I did have it sorted it would not load due to server issues so my sincere apologies to you all. 

We shall begin with the news that the bulls have appealed the 6 point deduction handed to us on the 25th February, this did deal us with a massive blow and really put our survival hopes in jeopardy. As we are all aware the bottom 2 teams will be relegated. There is no news as of yet when the hearing will be held but the appeal could not be held until the terms of ownership were resolved. As far as the process goes there is a sporting appeal panel set up by the RFL and includes an Independant tribunal chairman and and an insolvency practitioner basically they hear the case and make a decision on the appeal and to see whether our administration was avoidable or not I think that's about it in a nutshell so I hope that clears a few things up. 

So let's move onto Fridays game there were signs of hope and encouragement but we need consistency and the full 80 minutes too so here we go Bradford Bulls vs Salford Red Devils at the provident stadium Odsal. 

The bulls were hopefull that after the recent of change of coaches that it could be possible to wipe out the -2 points sadly it was not be 

The devils started the game under the new guidance of  our former player Iestyn Harris at times the devils were just too quick and vibrant mainly during the first 40 minutes. The bulls were hopefull that after the recent of change of coaches that it could be possible to wipe out the -2 points sadly it was not be. For the first time in weeks and at Francis cummins disposal there were 5 props available in the shape of manukafoua, walker, mullally, sidlow and fakir. Cummins chose to start with manakafoua and walker with the others on the bench which in turn meant Danny addy missed out altogether. 

The game itself also saw the return of Matt diskin and stand off  Lee Gaskell after injury which served a huge boost to the squad, even the omission of Tom Olbison and Danny bridge raised some eyebrows on the terraces. 

Gaskell really showed his true qualities in no less than 2 minutes into the game with a great kick inside the right but Salford dealt with it and with this opened the scoring 3 minutes later, it was that man again Rangi chase who advanced forward and slipped in a neat pass to hock who left the bulls in his wake before another neat off load sent in mullaney over the try line. He could not convert tho. Salford and especially chase looked in control and Bradford needed to steady the ship and quickly too as chase was really pulling the strings. About 14 minutes gone the bulls came up with decent pressure and with a good run from Purtell made very good ground, Salford defending brilliantly. The bulls did there best with gale and a crossfield kick to the right corner but meli literally plucked the ball from the air with soon almost over himself when Kearney came up with a superb effort to deny meli in the corner once again though chase at the heart of the attack. Then the Bulls hit back when Luke gales own kick fell back to him to send in Purtell from close range. Foster converted 6-4. Sadly after this it didn't get much better for the bulls. Many fans vented there frustrations at the referee Phil Bentham after a harsh call of a knock on after some really good neat play with Adam Henry. The supporters were furious and it didn't get much better as in the next set sa'u went over the line. With the conversion going over it was soon the bulls fans to further vent frustration when gale collected fergusons off load and when thru the gap for a certain try but the ref called them back for a forward pass. To be fair it did look like the right call. Once again tho Salford found there way in again bulls defence could not deal with the ball and actually almost criminal with ashurst grounding the ball with his first touch. 

After the break the bulls were really looking to hit back and what a response from o brien to get over the line and foster converting with ease moments later gale found Gaskell and his kick was collected by kear only to be denied by sa'u with a great try saving tackle hope though was soon crushed as poor defence let in puletua from a Tomkins pass.

Baradford did reply again with kear and a superb individual effort was just not enough as once again the orchestra of Rangi chase went over and provided a superb pass to Mali to send him over. Adam Henry grabbed a late consolation try from close range and the score stood Bulls 24 Devils 38. In the post match interview cummins admitted to not keeping teams under enough pressure for longer periods, And giving Salford too much possession and cheap ball away as always Francis was respectfully to the referee saying most decisions were 50-50. 

So with the disappointment of this result a tough Easter is ahead with the visit of our arch rivals no other than the Leeds Rhinos and a trip to Wigan as well. The volcano spent 6 years with the bulls and was huge part in our treble winning side of 2003. Just a few stats on The Volcano before I go played 152 tries 149 his last try was at headingly in a 36-14 win 4 grand finals 3 world club challenge and 1 challenge cup final.

Good evening and welcome to this weeks edition of BULLieve, 

Due to Jay being away at the moment I have taken on the reigns of writing BULLIeve for this short period so please bear with me and I hope you all still enjoy the page.

 It's certainly been a turbulent time at the Provident Stadium first of all we had Mandy koucash willing to buy us only to be knocked back by the administrator and she certainly showed her willingness as herself and her husband attended the game at home against the Huddersfield giants and even mingled among the fans outlining her ambition should she be successful in her bid. During the past week it has been announced in the press that Richard lamb has been successful in his bid but confirmation has not yet been given by either the administrator or the RFL. 

Moving back to the on field issues the Bulls were beaten heavily last weekend at home to the Huddersfield giants 18-66 despite early in the game leading 6-4 the game itself was a headache for cummins who only had one available prop in the shape of manuokafoa as Mullally was not allowed to play against his home team, and Adam sidlow withdrew due to illness. Scott Grix opened the scoring before Adam Henry replied for Bradford but the Giants ran amok during the rest of the first half. 

The giants try scorers were Joe Wardle, Michael Lawrence, Grix, Luke Robinson and Jason Chan. This put the giants with an unassailable 32-6 half time lead. The bulls did hit back through Adam Henry 2 minutes into the restart but that was about as good as it got for the home side and a late consolation for o brien. It was evident to see that the bulls lack of forward power was brutally exposed by the sheer size of  the Huddersfield pack.

The giants other scorers were Wardle, Ukuma Ta’ia (2), Jermaine McGillvary (2) and Brett Ferres. Chev walker also received a one match ban for a grade B offence of striking and a £300 fine. Moving onto this weeks game at the Lightstream stadium craven park the bulls travelled once again to East Yorkshire looking to finally get away from the -2 points. Once again I enquired regarding obtaining a media pass for the game of which the robins were very gracious and allowing myself to gain behind the scenes access to the match so here is your exclusive report for BULLieve.          

 It was a wet and bitterly cold afternoon on the east side of hull, injuries during the game really proved to be the difference for the bulls as they struggled to gain any real stronghold the game. Bradford had the early pressure but came to no avail after which the rovers kept the bulls firmly in there own half, sadly on 9 minutes diskin came off injured and further more played no more part in the game. 

Some great defence from the bulls kept rovers out but the line was soon to give as caro went over for the try in the left corner and burns duly adding the extras 6-0. Once again the bulls were guilty of there own down fall as errors crept in and coughed up possession early in the tackle count and on 18 minutes Keating went in for the rovers with burns converting 12-0. To be fair to bradford they were forced to make early changes early on especially when sidlow came off in a similar fashion to diskin. Rovers now really piled on the pressure and were literally running over the bulls. Bradford found the conditions very difficult and really could not keep possession when the bulls did threaten the line on a rare occasion it came to nothing. The second half started in similar fashion as the first and very error strewn from the bulls, heavy downpours hardly helped conditions. The bulls defence was far superior from the giants game but could only hold out for so long as with 19 mins remaining larroyer went over for the try after good pressure from rovers but the conversion was missed 16-0 with around 20 minutes to go. 

With no interchange left the bulls really were in trouble but they kept strong and held out without any further damage to the scoreline. And that's how it stayed 16-0 to the rovers. In the post match interview cummins said "diskin has torn his hamstring and sidlow was a possible broken leg and was being sent for x rays" Matty Blythe has a sore back after a dangerous tackle and hoping it does not stiffen up. Cummins thought that it was the best Brett Kearney had played so far this term and was extremely proud of the goal line defence. When asked regarding ownership "not fretting been here before but I'm short on props". 

As if they could not rub salt into our wounds any more the one and only Jamie Langley graced there programme. Well this has been my first time writing Bullieve and I hope you all enjoy it Jay will be back in a few weeks and there will be some new features too.

                                     Good evening and welcome to another edition of BULLieve.

For all our new readers here is a quick run down of how BULLieve has come about.

BULLieve has been set up by the fans, for the fans.

 Back in 2013 I was part of a Bulls group on Facebook and was given an admin role, part of the role was to keep members up to date and informed in all things Bradford Bulls. One idea from myself was to write a weekly write up of what had happened all in one place rather than scrolling down groups and pages for missed information. BULLieve was born. 

I decided i would start up a blog page for BULLieve and was very basic to say the least and a lot of errors had been made within the blog. As time has gone on I have added pictures and videos and made a unique layout for the blog page itself.

It went official for a short time under OK Bulls LTD but then back independent.

This is a voluntary blog and we do not receive any payment and use our own time to help spread the word to all Bulls fans throughout our fan base.

On the back of this we have also got a Facebook group and also a Twitter account set up solely for BULLieve. The links are; Facebook Group @bullieve2013

The popularity was global and, the page has had over 15,000 views and rising each and everyday. During the off season myself and now team member Thomas Fynn, had been deliberating how we can move BULLieve forward again as, BULLieve had not had a post since June 2013.

Regular readers will notice that the layout has changed and we would like some feedback on the layout and the blog by all readers please.

We had come up with an idea and, due to this we have been able to obtain press passes for the away game with Hull FC in which we would like to express our sincere gratitude to both Hull FC and Bradford Bulls for pointing us in the right direction, all under the name of BULLieve. 

As we all know we have off field issues and we here at BULLieve will not be reporting on anything until the new owner/owners are revealed.

The Bradford Bulls has today revealed that Warrington loan player, Danny Bridge has extended his deal with us by another month. This is excellent news as we have a very small squad and Bridge is a great edition to our pack.

So now onto the exclusive match report from Thomas Fynn in the Hull FC media suite.

Good evening and welcome to my first ever blog. I was lucky enough to obtain a press pass for this Fridays game against hull FC enabling myself to gain access to areas that fans are not normally able too. On this note I would like to thank Hull FC in this matter and their hospitality.

 Bradford came into the game brimming with confidence after back to back victories and looking to get the points tally to zero.

 The bulls started brightly and after hull had gifted them possession from kicking out on the full the bulls were soon on hulls 20m line and from the first set of 6 bulls scored via Diskin who burrowed over from dummy half and foster duly adding the extras to make it 6-0.

The bulls had all the early pressure but the scores were soon to be level as a huge hole opened up in the bulls defense as Ellis raced through and scored from close range and whiting adding the extras. Hull now were really piling the pressure on the bulls and forcing 2 goal line drop outs eventually the pressure paid off and Westerman went in at the corner to further the score whiting missing the conversion.

 Once again though it was hull to post the next score with Shaul crossing for the hosts and it seemed that it could become one way traffic at this stage as Bradford were not seeming to gain any ground with ball in hand and some really silly errors creeping into there play. That was until after some great handling and passing from Bradford Purtell managed to squeeze in at the corner and this put the bulls to within 6 points of hull. The bulls in the first half were guilty of there own downfall as  Manuokafoa knocked on on the first tackle which immediately saw hull score again with whiting on his 250th appearance racing through to the corner to touch down but unable to add his own score bulls were now struggling. Diskin was replaced by O,Brien but once again after some very sloppy defense hull were able to score with heremia in under the posts. Just before half time and Houghton went in again for the black and whites giving them a 22 point lead at half time and the match seemingly over. Bradford seemed to be very one dimensional. 32-10 half time. 

Once the second half begun hull were soon back in there stride when Shaul was the first to react Hornes brilliant kick to touch down. Just when we thought it couldn't get worse Bradford seemed to self destruct Rankin powered over to make it an unassailable 44-10 lead. Until the last 4 minutes that's the way it stayed a brilliant run from Sutcliffe put Bradford in a great position and gales cross field kick was grounded by Henry to give Bradford some consolation. Foster duly added the extras but it was too little too late bulls showing some great skill and determination in the dying minutes. On a sad note Burke came off nursing an injured shoulder and certainly looked in considerable pain and even though hull had won with a comfortable margin also had there own worries with Lineham coming off in the dying seconds.

 Hull were very fast and really controlled the ruck far better than bulls.

 In the post match interview with Francis Cumming, Francis was full of praise for Hull but admitted himself that it looked like they had not played together for a long time, Burke was sent for an x ray after the game but there were no other concerns injury wise just bumps and bruises and very gracious to Sutcliffe who really did create chances from nothing. Chev walker was rested this week after picking up a knock against London previous week. The second half performance really did please Cummins but is hoping to dust themselves down and get set to go again against the giants. Mullally will miss the game against giants. Burke is to see a specialist to find out the extent of the injury this week. We have also found out that Hull's Tom Lineham has in fact suffered a broken ankle and, we would like to wish him a speedy recovery.

On Saturday March 8th 2014 it was the turn of the Bradford Bulls academy team to take on Hulls academy team.

The game was played at Bishop Burton college and the home side raced into a comfortable half time lead of 20-10.

The Bulls however were not going to take that lying down. In the second half Hull scored again but that only spurred the lads on and, at the full time whistle the Bulls were victorious with a 26-28 win.

The academy side are now unbeaten in 2 games out of 2 and really put their bodies on the line as, Stephen Copeland ended up with a very nasty gash on his leg which will see a short spell on the sidelines.Well done lads, keep up the great work.

Please turn up to the Provident Stadium  in big numbers this coming Sunday 16th March 2014 as we face the Huddersfield Giants with a 3 o'clock kick off.

Lets back the lads now as they need us more than ever before. 

As in the previous blogs we would of added the events section but, as we don't know the events we cannot do this.

Hi everyone just a quick post to say we're back! Yes this time i have another writer for BULLieve so there are now 2 of us.

I myself (Jay) have returned after a while and decided to bring BULLieve back to life. As you can see their are a few differences to the blog, in which we hope you will like. Please feel free to send us feedback on this matter.

Highs and Lows

Hi everyone and welcome to another edition of BULLieve.

First and foremost I’d like to leave a very positive farewell message for Jay! You did a brilliant job and made a lot of friends doing the blog, you will be missed doing it and I’m grateful you have given me the chance to take over for the time being. I hope your new training course goes well and a full time job comes out of it! A very massive THANK YOU from me and all the fans and we wish you all the best!

As we are all now aware Elliott Whitehead has departed from us and will be joining Catalan Dragons on a 2 and a half year deal. There is an undisclosed fee but I am sure this will benefit the club in the long term. The transfer was completed yesterday and on behalf of all Bradford bulls fans we would like to wish him all the best for the future and, you will be sadly missed. Thank you for your service over the years and we hope you enjoy yourself at Catalan as much as you did at Bradford for a while.

Over the weekend the Provident Stadium was taken over by scouts.

 

 The Provident Stadium was the place to be scouting about for challenges and adventure during Saturday and Sunday, hundreds of Scouts from all over West Yorkshire gathered there to take part in two days packed full of fun, aptly named Bully’s Big Bash. Scouts took over the stadium on Saturday daytime trying out new experiences from Zorbing and abseiling to axe throwing and learning survival skills. Then, in the evening, with the homeless charity in mind made their own shelters building them around the pitch to create a huge camp. On the Sunday the scouts had a fun filled morning doing various tasks and sat down to watch the Bulls VS Widnes.

In great news this week we have had 2 lots of news.

 

 The first of which was, Chev Walker signing for another year with the option of a further year if he wishes and, was very delighted to have this new deal and had this to say;

“Franny has shown faith in me and I’m more than willing to extend my time here.  Like I’ve said before, I feel at home at Bradford and am really enjoying my rugby. I started off really well this year but then, just after Easter, I started to get a few niggles. I’ve just had a clear-out of my knee but that’s fixed so now it’s time to crack on and find a bit of form again.” Head Coach Francis Cummins was also very happy that Chev had signed and had this to say;

“Chev is an outstanding professional and his experience is immense.  He’s in the twilight of his career but he lives his life really well with his diet and general lifestyle. He’s passing that on to his team-mates because he’s not prepared to let other people make mistakes, which is a huge thing.  During pre-season, he just missed out on his personal best for a 40-metre sprint, which he got when he was flying as a young kid.  He’s done really well and is evolving into a middle man whilst trying to learn his trade again." Brilliant news for the fans and on behalf of all Bulls fans we would like to say thank you!

Just this morning, the news had finally made official the Garreth Carvell rumours.

 

Garreth has signed a 2 year deal with us from the 2014 season and will be a big edition to the pack which, is desperately needed. Prop Carvell has previously played for Hull FC and Leeds Rhinos and has been at Warrington Wolves since 2009. Head coach Francis Cummins spoke about Garreth and had this to say;

“In general we’ve got a young squad and most of it is about providing belief.  We just need to take the next step and the experience that Gareth brings will be invaluable in this area. It’s a different challenge that he’s going to face here but obviously the desire must still be there because he is continually striving to improve his game.  I have spoken to him about what we need and he’s delighted to be coming on board.”

During the week the under 19’s were in action against the Widnes Vikings at the Provident stadium.

 

The young guns took full control of the game and came out 34-0 winners despite Hooker Danny Gregory and Full Back Curtis Naughton sin binned in the last 10 minutes.

Well done lads that is another 2 points in the bag and the hard work really paid off this time.

Onto Sunday and the 1^st team were back on home turf after 52 days away from the Provident stadium.

 

The game was to end in a loss for a 1^st half dominant Bulls side who, seemed to have control of the game yet somehow still lose. Early scores from Adam Sidlow, Keith Lulia and James Donaldson gave the Bulls a half time lead of 18-10 but, the second half was a complete different story despite Michael Platt scoring a superb try after showing Rhys Hanbury a dummy and scoring after running 55 metres down field. But the visitors never gave up and a super 80 metre dash from ex Bull Patrick Ah Van and his second try 3 minutes later put the game to bed and gave a final score of Bulls 28 – 32 Vikings.

That victory was Widnes’s first win since 1990 and has put them up to 11^th in the table just 2 points behind the Bulls who are in 9^th. Another loss and outside the play offs yes but, we must all stick by the team and also Francis Cummins as he is the man for the job.

Up next we have the Warrington Wolves at the Provident Stadium on Sunday with a 3pm kick off and, our ref will be none other than Richard Silverwood.  It is also his birthday so maybe fans could sing happy birthday to him during the game??

Tony Sutcliffe, now living in Northern Ireland and brother of Bulls honorary chairman Gerry, has written and performed his new stand-up show across the UK and now brings it to his hometown of Bradford. Brilliantly observed and side-splittingly funny this is one show not to be missed.

 With excellent support from fantastic local singer Luke Hoyland bringing you music from the ages and ably compared by local funny man James Murgatroyd, you are assured of a memorable evening.  Good evening and welcome to this week’s edition of BULLieve.

 

 

 

As it was the England RL VS the Exiles there hasn’t been much in the way of news regarding the club. A massive well done to our very own Heath L’Estrange on his Exiles call up and, as per he played very well.

Well what an interesting piece in the Telegraph and Argus about Shaun Ainscough. Ainy (Shaun Ainscough) has said that he has realised that he made a mistake by not taking the offer from Coach Francis Cummins at the end of last season and regrets that decision. Ainscough is very popular with the fans and, when he turned the offer down he was very open and honest regarding his decision which was quite simply, he needed more money to be able to provide for his family. However, Ainscough has now set his sights on playing in Super League again and said he would be willing to play for Bradford on the money he turned down last year. This is superb news and, if we can then let’s sign Ainy back up as soon as possible as I’m sure he will make an impact upon the lads and morale will be boosted. Ainscough for me was the stand out player with the most passion and pride through our troubles and he publically placed that on show with his “save the Bulls” written on his vest at the Wigan away game.

 

 

Also regarding making mistakes it seems Elliot Whitehead has also made one too.

 

 

 

It was revealed last week that Elliot had put in a transfer request to the club. He was put “on leave” by Cummins who was quoted as saying “I can’t have players in my squad who don’t want to be here”. Currently Elliot is at Glenn Morrison’s Dewsbury Rams on dual registration. Elliot is now stuck as so far his agent has not had any offers for him which has had a negative impact on both Elliot and us as a club. I hope something can be resolved so as Elliot is a great young talent with a lot of potential and can be a great signing for any club.

 

It has been a very good week for Alex Mellor and Nathan Conroy who have been handed full time contracts.

 

 

Alex Mellor, a Back Row Forward who signed from Halifax side King Cross and Nathan Conroy, a Hooker from West Bowling in Bradford were both members of the England Academy Squad that played in France last month.  They will join the Bulls on Full Time contracts on July 1st and begin training with the First Team Squad.

Head Coach Francis Cummins said:

“The Academy side has had a tough season but Alex and Nathan have still stood out and you can see their talent.  It’s all about producing players for the first-team and now they are going full-time you will see the benefits of that.  We’ve already had a look at Alex and Nathan in the first-team environment and that’s what we’ll do with other players as well.”

This is great for the future of both the players and the club and, on behalf of all the Bulls fans out there well done lads you both thoroughly deserve your contracts.

The Bulls have also as a club had some good news as they are now part of the Parliamentary Rugby League Group as Associate Members. You can read the full story here, Parliament Article

On another plus note the Bulls have invested in their sports equipment up at their training facilities within their Tong training ground.

 

 

 

 

 The club is also looking to bolster the back room staff and become “more modern”. In terms of sports science and training equipment we are a little behind but, with the investment in both staff and equipment we will be up there with the likes of Leeds and Wigan which can only benefit the club and players in the long term.

There were 2 matches this weekend and both were at the Provident Stadium.

First up were the Bulls under 16’s side who played local rivals Leeds under 16’s. Although the Bulls were first to score, sadly they went down to a score line of Bradford 16 – 42 Leeds. Try scorers for the Bulls, Michael Paul, Matthew Dyson and Liam Kirk. Unlucky Lads you can’t win them all.

Up next to play was the under 19’s who were facing Sheffield Eagles under 19’s in a game full of handling errors by both sides. Despite the errors the Bulls managed to pull off a winning victory and post a score line of Bradford 38 – 20 Sheffield. Try Scorers for the Bulls, Jarrod Ward (2) Oliver Roberts (2) Liam Coe, Jordan Gale and Curtis Naughton. Adam Brook kicked 2 goals in the first half and 2 in the second with Jordan Gale 1.  Well done lads another great win keep up the good work.

It has finally arrived; 52 days of waiting and plenty of events at the Provident Stadium we finally have a home game.

 

 

This Sunday see’s the Widnes Vikings come to the Provident Stadium in what I feel is a must win game as we are sitting 9^th in the table. We kick off at 3pm and the gates will be open from 1.30pm let’s all get there and back the lads 100%.

Saints March Past The Bulls

Welcome to this week’s edition of BULLieve.

 

What a week it has been for the club. New sponsors Kar skip and grab hire have signed a 2 year sponsorship deal and will be responsible for all waste solutions and recycling at the Provident Stadium. The company is a Bradford based company which is great for the club keeping with their community links.

 

There is great news regarding the extension of player’s contracts which see’s Tom Olbison pen a new 2 year deal. Olbison, who joined the club in 2007 after being on the club’s Scholarship, had one year to run on his current deal but has now agreed a new improved contract to keep him at the Provident Stadium until the end of 2015.

Tom had this to say;

“I was here until the end of next year anyway, so they’ve added a year to it and I’m obviously delighted.  I take it as a big compliment because I wasn’t up for renewal and this is a big confidence boost because it shows the club want me here.  I was more than happy to take it because it gives me some added security.”

It is great to see such a young and talented player staying with our club and committing his future to The Bulls.  From all the fans we say, thank you Tom.

 

 

The biggest news of the week was the transfer request by Elliot Whitehead.

Elliot feels he is ready to play for a top 4 side and requested a transfer. Whilst this is on-going Francis Cummins has placed Whitehead on leave and said “I can’t have players in my squad who don’t want to be here”. We could debate Elliot’s decision all day/ week long but, I will say one thing and that is Elliot handled the situation better than Craig Kopczak. He hasn’t just left the club he placed a transfer request to the club which has been accepted. Good luck in the future Elliot you will be missed.

Our co-captain Heath L’Estrange has been called into the Exiles squad following the departure of Warrington’s Michael Monaghan. The Exiles will face England on Friday 14^th June at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington. Well done Heath, you fully deserve your place and we hope you come through the game unscathed as we don’t want yet another person on the side lines.

 

 

This weekend I had the pleasure of going to see our amazing family over in Bridlington and had a fantastic time.

Sami and I took 3 of our children to see Thomas Fynn, Kirsty Dew and their 2 children. Initially we were only going for the day but, ended up staying overnight. Whilst we had a lot to talk about Tom revealed that back in 2009 going to Murrayfield, he was the one who held up the supporters coach and other traffic for 60 miles. I thanked Tom in a very sarcastic way as, I was on the supporters coach and it was very warm and the holdup did not help at all. Whilst over on the east coast we was wearing our Bradford Bulls gear and my song is “Everywhere you go, always take the Bradford with you”.  We had a great time and cannot wait to go back.

 

Yesterday was a bad day for our club on the field. Firstly the under 19’s played Saint Helens U19’s in the curtain raiser but unfortunately the lads were on the wrong end of a 42-18 score line. Our try scorers were Todd Binns, Jarrod Ward and Nathan Conroy with Adam Brook converting all three tries. Unlucky lads, we are sure you will bounce back next game.

 

The first team squad were also playing Saint Helens. They too also fell to a defeat at the hands of the Saints. The game had errors from both sides which was officiated by Thierry Alibert. The Bulls were not on form and had a long afternoon at Langtree Park. Saints were the better team on the day and are now in the playoff spots at the expense of the Bulls who now sit in 9^th in the table. There was a lot of hard effort along with handling errors and missed tackles but the first half had put the game beyond the Bulls. Willie Manu, Tommy Makinson and Sia Soliola went over for the hosts before the break, Brett Kearney responding for the Bulls to make it 18-6 at half time. The Bulls looked optimistic about turning the game around and responded great in the second half even though Saints scored just after the interval. The Bulls responded through Matty Blythe and Elliot Kear to make the score line 24-18 but, Jon Wilkin's try was the match winner. Final score, Saint Helens 30 Bradford Bulls 18.

Francis Cummins has said there is an injury concern to Keith Lulia but the rest of the squad have come through uninjured. We are now sat in 9^th but I urge you all to back the boys and our coach Francis Cummins as, this is his first season with a very small squad and an ever growing injury list. Success is not an overnight thing and it takes time, effort and a lot of patience.

Next up we are finally back at home and will face Widnes Vikings Sunday 23^rd June and kick off is at 3pm.

Special Mentions

First up is a special mention to an ex player. Roy Goddard was the Bradford Northern scrum half 1951 to 1956. He played in the same squad as Trevor foster, Len Haley and Jack McLean. Unfortunately Roy passed away last year and his Birthday was on June 7^th.

I would like to wish Millie Johnson a very happy 21^st birthday today with lots of love from all your family and your dad would have been very proud of you. Millie has been a fan since the age of 5 and was first taken to a match by her father on August bank holiday against Wigan but, unfortunately Wigan won that day to stop the Bulls unbeaten Run.

I would like to wish my son Riley a very happy 6^th birthday on Thursday 13^th June and myself a happy birthday on Friday 14^th June.

Last but not least, Happy Father’s Day to all you fathers out there have a great day whatever you are doing.
